TL;DR
Some of our money is being redirected to anti-firearms efforts when organizations like the CCFR use processors like Stripe or PayPal. This is not acceptable.
A Call to Action for Pro-Firearms Advocacy
In any battle, identifying allies and enemies is critical. Sometimes, enemies are hard to see—they blend in, taking on the appearance of allies or neutral parties. The lines can get blurry.
As Gunnies, we interact with thousands of businesses every day. While keeping track of all these interactions is impossible for an individual, we rely on a network of firearms-friendly businesses to identify and track how anti-firearms movements exploit financial systems to undermine our cause.
One critical issue is where our money goes after we spend it.
When we pay taxes, that’s a non-negotiable obligation. But when it comes to merchant processing—the companies we use to handle payments for memberships, donations, and more—that is a choice.
The Problem
The CCFR has chosen to use services like PayPal and Stripe, which have openly anti-firearms policies and contribute to causes that directly oppose us. Every transaction made through these processors shunts a percentage of our hard-earned money to entities working against our rights.
The Solution
There are firearms-friendly merchant processing alternatives. These options allow us to support our advocacy efforts without unintentionally funding the opposition. I’ve offered my services, free of charge, to help the CCFR transition to these alternatives—but my calls have gone unanswered.
Why This Matters
As a community, we must commit to supporting the pro-firearms side, 100%. That means making intentional, value-aligned choices in every aspect of our operations, including financial processing.
The CCFR has done incredible work advocating for firearms rights in Canada. But continuing to use Stripe or PayPal undermines that mission. We cannot support efforts that, however unintentionally, direct a portion of our contributions to anti-firearms causes.
A Call for Change
I urge the CCFR to reconsider their approach and allow those of us with the expertise to help guide them to better solutions. This is about standing firm in our values, ensuring our resources are used exclusively to support our shared mission.
Pick a side. Support it fully.
